When I semi-retired, I moved my office to the country to join my husband. During that time our century farm included grass fed beef and hay crops. I soon found the cattle far too large for me to handle so added a flock of Corriedale sheep, chickens and ducks. Life as we knew it changed forever (in a very good way).

After the first shearing, I kept the wool for knitting. This began a big learning curve - skirting, washing, carding and spinning. Then on to weaving, dyeing, felting, certification in wool judging and wool classing.

Besides purebreds, I have a special interest in developing crossbreds with unique wool characteristics and for natural colour. Lovely wool for knitting yarns, tapestry yarns, weaving and felting.

Selling fleece helps the sustainability of our farm. But the true beauty of sheep doesn’t end there. Pasture management of animals improves and fertilizes the soil. They also help control problem plants. Their waste wool (skirting) and bedding from sheds, goes to our Hugelkultur gardening and wool mulching/fertilizing.
